Let's take a walk in Vintage Garden

Hi! I want to show you the happiest place in Tampere, by far my favorite place to shop; the Vintage Garden.

Best thing about VG is that you can never know what you will find. There is usually shoes, dresses and jewellery, but also suitcases, maps, flowers, pots, kitchen tools, combs, mirrors, paintings and just everything.

It's really a great place to make findings for your princess style. Like these pearls... I want to have them all.

Everything is also placed so beautifully, I just wanted to take pictures of everything.

Only not so good part about this place is, that it's nowadays only a pop up shop. But I'm hoping it will pop up again before Christmas...

This necklace caught my eye, because it has something same in it than Pocahontas's necklace. If it had been turquoise i would have bought it right away. :) Still it's also pretty in that color too.

This belt would be great for Ariel inspired mermaid style!

And that seashell necklace! :)  Those two combined would be perfect.

This dress reminded me of the one that Anna wears at the Elsa's coronation party!

And these earrings! The flower is identical with the one Jasmine has in her room in Jafar's return. She also has these in her wedding bouquet in the King of thieves. Does someone know what flower this is?

My Prince was shopping with me, and at some point when I was enthusiastic about princess styled jewellery, he said to me that it must be great too see everything through those Disney princess glasses :D  He was right! It's absolutely perfect!

Eventually we picked a bow for Prince and Jasmine's flower earrings and pearls for me. I liked these pearls the most because the coloring is beautiful and matches with the colors of Rapunzel's dress :)

Have a perfect princess style moments, and remember, your style is perfect when you yourself like it!

BlackMilk Cinderella dress!

"So this is the miracle that I've been dreaming of
So this is love"

Yes. I'm in love with this dress. Like I wrote in my last post, I got a package from BlackMilk containing two lovely dresses; Beauty and the Beast dress and this "Cinderella Play Dress"

I cannot pick a favorite, but I really like that just seeing this dress makes you remember the scene in Cinderella movie, when she was at the ball, and when I wear it, I feel like going at the ball too :)

It's like modern ball gown, but still light and fit for a relaxed summer day.

The look of this dress also depends on how you accessorize it. With an up do, high heels and a handbag (silver ones would look great with this!) this would really be a perfect party dress.

This look I have in the pictures is more of an everyday look. I'm not wearing any jewellery, and I chose ballerinas instead of high heels. And of course, the look is inspired by Cinderella :)

These ballerinas are quite similar with the ones Cinderella wears in her casual look. The color is different though, Cinderella's shoes are black, but I felt that this light blue color looked good with the dress.

I kind of got carried away with the blue... This nail polish is from the Kure Bazaar.

I wanted to keep this look really natural, so my hair is just straight and loose. In the eye makeup I used silver and grey colored eye shadows applied in classic 50's style. Eyebrows are also shaped in 50's style, since Cinderella movie was released in 1950, and there is same elements in her makeup too. I chose orange lipstick because it looks great with blue, and also Cinderellas lips are the same color in the movie.

All the makeup products I used are from Couleur Caramel. I really like their makeup;  it's all natural and long lasting, and has a lot of pigment and different colors.

And now I just need to keep on believing, that dreams of warm summer days will come true. It has been quite cold lately, these days when we took pictures of the BlackMilk dresses have almost been the only warm ones. But perhaps someday... the dreams that I wish will come true.

At least one of my wishes is coming true; the new Cinderella movie is coming to DVD at the end of this month! I saw it three times in theater, and I can't wait to have it! :)

BlackMilk Beauty and the Beast dress!

I got a package from BlackMilk a little while ago, and I was so exited! This was my first time to order from there, and I had been watching their sites for long dreaming about their dresses... Those are just perfect for a Disney fan. And now I finally had a change to order two dresses...

It was really hard to decide which dresses I really wanted. But finally I made my decision (it took about an hour...), and this "Tale as old as time scoop skater dress" was other one I picked. And I'm so happy I did! I just love it!

The size was just right and its a perfect dress for a summer day. Also it feels really comfortable since it's so light and stretchy.

My cousin took these photos when I was visiting my relatives in Haukipudas where I'm originally from. These are actually taken in my granny's yard, where we used to play with my cousin as kids. Our favorites plays were Pocahontas and Tarzan, and that tree you can see on my left side was many times in a big part of our plays, mainly as Grandmother Willow :D True, it doesn't look anything like it, but when you are a child it doesn't matter.

I picked these shoes because they have the same color than Belle's ballerinas. They are also really classic, and bow is always fit for a princess style, especially for Belle.

In the eye makeup I wanted to bring brown tones, because I don't have brown hair like Belle, but I still wanted to have something brown besides my shoes.

In the Beauty and the Beast movie Belle's lip color changes a bit depending on the scene, but mainly she has a nice bit darker pink tone. I think this one I chose is quite close to it :)

I will reveal the other dress in my next post, but I can give you a hint about the theme:

"My heart has wings, Mmmmmm
And I can fly
I'll touch ev'ry star in the sky..."

Suvi-Vintage Fair

Last weekend the sun was finally shining and we visited Suvi-Vintage (summer vintage) fair with our guests from America.

I really liked the fair, and the old stable yard, where it took place, is one of my favourite places in Tampere. Especially when there is...

Horses!! This horse was working at the fair, taking people for a ride in the carriage. Luckily it wasn't too hot day, and he had food and water and enough breaks :) There is not usually horses at the stable yard anymore, only when there is some happening.

After I had pet the horse enough, and admired this carriage (though it's not pumpkin shaped it's really cool), I was really in a princess mood and ready to shop some vintage.

I think that most vintage clothes have that classic princess style in them, especially 50's feminine dresses with wide skirts, that happen to be my favourites.

Like this one! I'm happy that it was too big for me, because it also had a bit too big price. This reminds me of the Cinderellas mothers dress that she first ment to wear at the ball.

Princess style can of course be created also with modern clothes, but real vintage clothes just have that romantic old-fashioned feeling, and usually Disney princesses styles have influences about the fashion used on that decade the movie was made.
Snow White (late 30's), Cinderella (early 50's) and Sleeping beauty(late 50's) are great examples, even though the movie doesn't take place on that time period, you can still recognize the decade they were made from their hairstyles, make-up and clothes.
It can also been seen in newer films, Ariel's wedding dress's wonderful puffy sleeves from the 80's and Belle's 90's styled parting in the hair and Elsa's modern ice queen make-up and braid.

I can imagine these shoes were designed in the 50's right after Cinderella was released! Unfortunately I couldn't make these fit! :D

So it's one way to dress up like a princess, to check the decade when the movie was made and dress up like they did on that time.

It's also fun to think, that when the princess movies were released at the first time, people really wore these kind of clothes in general, and how different the fashion is today.

This was my look for that day, not really vintage, though I have bought that dress many years ago and my dad bought me those shoes when I was still living home! That must be at least ten years ago, so almost vintage! The bag is from the 80's i think, it was a gift. Pink blouse is new from Bershka, but it has nice 20's look in it.

This time I didn't buy any dresses at the fair! That's really an accomplishment for me. But I found nice pair of long brown leather gloves, that can be worn with shorter sleeved jacket. And this fairytale book! It's called "Three daughters of the king". I havent had a change to start reading it yet, but I hope I will soon. There is nothing better than reading a good book with adventures in the great wide somewhere...

And here is our guests with my prince! I didn't really know them before they visited us, they were just couch surfing in our couch, but it's always nice to make new friends :) They were having an adventure of their own, next they were going to Germany to visit the Neuschwanstein fairytale castle that inspired Walt Disney! That's so amazing, I wish I could also go someday..

We didn't go to the horse carriage this time, but if there is a change to go to carousel we won't hesitate!

We want to wish amazing adventure to our guests and adventurous summer to all!
